Walbrook Rowing Club has seen much expansion over the last few years, particularly in the junior section of the club. As things stand there are nearly 50 active juniors ranging from those who are enjoying their first year of racing right up to those that are pushing for national titles and international representation.
To this end, the demands on the equipment have never been greater. Various new equipment purchases and projects are on-going, including:
- Rotation of a senior's eight to the juniors for use as an Octo
- Purchase of a set of quad sculling blades to upgrade the many pairs of macons we have
- In house refurbishment of the older fleet to prolong its life span
- Reorganisation of the boathouse to increase capacity for additional boats
All of these projects go on over and above general maintenance. Rowing requires funding!
The club relies upon the membership for all of this work and any additional events and sponsorship. Much of the sponsorship effort over recent years has gone towards the much needed island club house that all sections of the site will benefit from. However, we need to keep our fleet current.
