24 HOUR ‘HALLOWEEN’ ERGO CHALLENGE
8am Saturday 31st October – 8am Sunday 1st November 2009
The ‘juniors’ at Walbrook Rowing Club, along with their senior counterparts, are hosting this ‘Halloween’ event at the Clubhouse to raise much-needed funds for club equipment (first on the list is to replace the shoes, and purchase additional ones to cover for differing foot sizes, in the 2 quads) and to donate to the ‘Pull for Huntingdon’s’ campaign headed up by Olympian Sarah Winckless. We aim to raise at least £1800 by selling ten minute slots on an ergo machine over a 24 hour period. Each slot will cost a minimum of £10 / £20 (depending on time of day), but we would really like everyone (yes ‘everyone’ – our juniors, parents, coaches and friends) to get involved to try and raise much more than this. There are two ways you can achieve this:· Get as much sponsorship as you can to undertake one ten minute slot· Commit to rowing as many slots as you can for a minimum of £10 / £20 each To encourage you to raise the maximum amount of sponsorship we have various prizes to award after the event. Full details are on the covering letter to go with the sponsorship form.
SO BOOK YOUR SLOT(S) NOW ON THE SIGN-UP SHEETS AT THE CLUB.Let’s try and beat the total distance achieved – 312.605 kilometres !!! in April last yearFor the younger members of the club, we will also be holding a (supervised) sleepover (with breakfast) to coincide with the sponsored challenge. This challenge is open to all members of Walbrook Rowing Club, young and old, and all other clubs on the ‘site’. Parents, friends and relations are also very welcome to take part. Refreshments will be available throughout the day – and ALL do come to the ‘Halloween Party and BBQ’ in the clubhouse starting at 8 pm – an ideal opportunity to meet other ‘juniors’, parents and friends. This is a major fundraiser for the club and will require considerable assistance throughout the day and night from club members and junior parents.
